3Q Plus Deadline, Start of 48-Hour Reports & Electronic Signatures Now Accepted!!!!

ElectaFile Short Summary: 3Q Plus Period Closes Tomorrow; Reports Must be Filed by Tuesday, October 29; State Board Allowing E-Signature for the First Time!

Good afternoon, campaign finance fans!

We have three key points. The first two are standard fare. The third is revolutionary!

First, your 3Q Plus Campaign Finance Reporting Period closes tomorrow, Saturday, October 19. Your 3Q Plus Campaign Finance Reports are due by Tuesday, October 29.

Second, Sunday, October 20 (two days from now) is the beginning of the 48 Hour Reporting Period. You can read more on our blog about 48 Hour Reports here. Essentially, though, if you receive a large contribution right before the election, you have to make a special filing. You can use ElectaFile.

Third, and this is big. The State Board as an accommodation to all of North Carolina following the devastation of Hurricane Helene, is allowing e-mailing of electronic signatures on report cover pages. This is big. You read that right.

The State Board told you in your reminder for 3Q Plus and it’s viewable on their website here. We’ve taken a screenshot.

To save you a trip to the post office or FedEx (and money!), email is awesome. And you get a time and date stamp of the transmission for audit trail purposes.

You can use the State software or ElectaFile to e-sign your downloaded cover sheet with a free copy of Adobe Acrobat.
