OK. Now is the time—today is Day 1 of both the 2Q Reporting Filing Period and Mid-Year Semi Annual.

We talk a lot at ElectaFile about planning ahead. If you have ever crammed for an exam, or waited until April 15 to file your taxes, you know waiting to the last minute—you work under pressure and pressure can cause stress and mistakes.

Key Point: Both the 2Q Reporting Period & the Mid Year Report have lengthy windows for reporting transactions because of the Presidential Primary this year…

We recommend that you start entering data now to leave yourself time to get things filed well in advance of July 10 or July 26 (see below…). You’ve also got to account for the Fourth of July holiday that will cause that ten day period to feel shorter.

Who Files by July 10?

These committees have a 2Q Report due by July 10 (you can start filing July 1):

Candidates on the Ballot in 2024

Political Party Committees

Auxillary Committees (Guilford Women, Carteret Men…)

Most PACs

Who Files by July 26?

These committees have a Mid Year Semi-Annual Report due by July 26 (you, too, can start filing July 26):

Candidates not on the Ballot (think off-cycle Judicial Candidates…)

Some PACs (if your PAC has not been spending money on races this cycle (Rare!))
