Folks. Since we’ve written, ElectaFile has added more features. We try to get better every day. We also try to leave you alone and treasure your time. But—there is work to be done.

Most of you all filed 2024 4Q Reports early in January 2025. Some of you filed Year End Semi Annual Reports at the end of January 2025.

Nearly every single committee in North Carolina has a Mid Year Filing obligation due this coming Friday.

This is the “off year” cycle that follows election years. Your report to be filed covers January 1 through June 30 of this year. And you then have nearly a month to file that actual report.

For those of you treasurers who might have just formed your committee, this may feel new.

Generally, there are three ways to file your campaign finance reports, depending on the size and type of your committee. You can e-file using ElectaFile. It has its strengths and weaknesses. You can use other software nationally focused. Finally, for some of you, you can use paper.

In all events, filing these reports by next week is critical to the success of your committee. Fines for most committees stack up at $50/day. For others it’s even higher.
